Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 17 September 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating a TalkSibi account or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Child Safety policy. If you don't agree, please don't use TalkSibi.
2. Who can use TalkSibi
- You must be 18 or older, and signing up asks you to confirm it. Giving a date of birth is optional; a date showing you are under 18 is refused, and confirming falsely is a breach of these Terms.
- You must not be barred from using the service by law where you live.
- You must not have been previously banned from TalkSibi for a Terms violation.
3. Your account
- One account per person. Multiple accounts by the same person for the same purpose is a violation.
- Use a real display name and language pair; obvious fakes ("Test123", empty profiles) will be removed.
- Keep your login credentials private. You're responsible for activity from your account.
- Notify us if you spot unauthorised access.
4. Acceptable use
TalkSibi is a place to practise languages with real people. Be kind, be patient, and remember that everyone here is learning. Specifically:
- Speak to others the way you'd want to be spoken to.
- Correct gently when someone asks; never mock a beginner.
- Keep parties and public chat family-friendly.
- Report abuse instead of retaliating.
5. Prohibited content and behaviour
You must not use TalkSibi to send, post, upload, share or link to:
- Content that sexualises anyone under 18, in any form — see our Child Safety policy for zero-tolerance enforcement.
- Harassment, hate speech, or threats targeting people or groups.
- Content promoting terrorism, self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide.
- Sexually explicit material (nudity, pornography). TalkSibi is a language-exchange service, not a dating or adult platform.
- Spam, chain messages, referral schemes, financial scams, or MLM recruitment.
- Phishing, malware, or other attempts to compromise other users.
- Impersonation of other people or organisations.
- Content you don't have the right to share (copyright, trademark violation).
- Private/personal information about other people without their consent (doxxing).
- Automated behaviour (bots, scrapers, mass-messaging tools) without written permission.
- Attempts to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the service.
- Any use that violates the law where you live or where our servers are located (the United Kingdom).
We investigate reports promptly. Serious violations result in immediate permanent ban and, for CSAM or credible threats of violence, referral to law enforcement.
6. Your content and ours
Your content stays yours. By posting to TalkSibi, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, display and route your content solely to run the service (e.g. showing your message to its recipient, showing your wall post to your followers). This licence ends when you delete the content or the account.
Our content stays ours. The TalkSibi name, logo, brand, code and design are ours. You may not use them to imply endorsement or to build a competing product.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or delete your account, remove content, or restrict features if we believe you've violated these Terms or created safety risk to others. Where possible we notify you and allow appeal to hello@talksibi.com. For safety-critical violations we act first and hear appeals after.
You may close your account at any time (Profile → Settings → Delete account). Closing your account does not delete your responsibility for violations that occurred before closure.
8. No warranty
TalkSibi is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it running and safe, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, that translation is perfect, that other users will match your expectations, or that any specific feature will remain available. Use of the service is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, TalkSibi is not liable for indirect losses, loss of profit, loss of data, or damages arising from your use of the service or your interactions with other users. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you have paid TalkSibi in the 12 months before the claim — which is £0, because nothing on TalkSibi is charged for.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (e.g. for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before taking effect. Continuing to use TalkSibi after that date means you accept the new Terms; if you don't, you can close your account first.
11. Payment
TalkSibi does not charge for anything. There is no paid plan, no subscription and no in-app purchase. We do not take card details, and there is no checkout anywhere in the app or on this site.
Some features have a daily allowance rather than a price — translation, the AI coach and AI lesson plans — because each of those costs us money every time anybody uses one. Reaching an allowance costs you nothing and never asks you to pay.
If we ever introduce something paid, we will say so on the pricing page and in these Terms before anything changes, and nothing you already have will start costing money without your agreement.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute you cannot resolve with us informally may be brought in the courts of England and Wales, unless local law entitles you to bring the claim where you live.
